Next time someone complains about the government's reckless spending spree

You can go ahead and casually mention how it doesn't exist, as this graph of total Federal expenditures illustrates. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to mark the beginning of President Obama's administration. Note that the total outlay hasn't gone up at all since 2009. (h/t to Paul Krugman)
